ALEXIS AVLAMIS received early art instruction from Bennington College and a BFA from the Athens School of Fine Arts. He explores memory and identity through painting and language, blurring material and imagined worlds. Known for encaustic techniques, he's involved in an Acropolis archaeological project. His work has been exhibited internationally, published in journals, and featured on Art21's blog.
